New Paid Family Leave

At Oxy we understand how important family is. That’s why we’re committed to making family a priority and providing employees flexibility to balance work with the rest of their life.

Beginning January 1, 2019, Oxy will offer paid Family Leave, a valuable addition to our paid time-off benefits. Family leave includes:

Paid pregnancy and bonding leave for birth moms.

Paid bonding leave for
non-birth moms and dads.

Paid family care leave for employees when a family member has a
serious health condition.

Who's it for

Full time and part time, nonbargaining
hourly and salaried employees of Oxy
or an affiliated company.

For Birth Moms
Pregnancy and Bonding Leave

There’s no better way to welcome a child into the world than by spending time together. We offer paid time off after childbirth to care for yourself and bond with your child. You’ll receive 100% of your regular salary for up to 14 weeks:

  • Pregnancy leave: Eight continuous weeks after the birth of a child, starting on the date your child is born. Pregnancy leaves run concurrently with Oxy’s Short-Term Disability Plan which also provides benefits if you need more time due to complications either before or after baby arrives.
  • Bonding leave: Six weeks after pregnancy leave ends or anytime within 12 months of your child’s birthdate. Bonding leave may be taken as continuous time off or in segments of one week or more.

For Non-Birth Moms & Dads
Bonding Leave

Parent-child time together is crucial for a baby’s wellbeing and development. Non-birth parents may take up to six weeks of paid time off after the birth or adoption of a child.

Leave begins on the date your child is born or placed with you and must be taken within the following 12 months as continuous time off, or in segments of one week or more.

For Everyone
Family Care Leave

When you need to care for an immediate or extended family member with a serious health condition, we offer paid family care leave. You’ll receive 100% of your regular salary for up to two weeks to care for a spouse/domestic partner, parent, child, grandchild, grandparent or sibling.

You can also use family care leave for a military service member and to provide support while they’re on military leave.
